The UC Women’s Caucus was established in 2016 by a coalition of female student body presidents from across the UC system who recognized the significant barriers faced by women in student leadership and in the professional world. The first two Women’s Caucus Leadership Conferences, held at UCLA in 2016 and UC Irvine in 2017, featured workshops and keynote addresses from elected representatives, UC Regents, and female advocates in a range of industries.
LEAN In UC is a renewed commitment to the vision of the women who have come before us - but we believe this vision can be pushed further.
We strive to create a network of strong and confident femme-identifying UC students, alumni, and community members. We aim to share the narratives of female leaders from this generation to inspire the next. We recognize the realities of a world far from achieving gender equity and commit to amplifying the voices of our most vulnerable: women of color, queer and trans women, and survivors of sexual violence/sexual harassment.
We pledge to always LEAN In - but, more importantly, we vow to stand up and speak out.
Leadership: Collaborating with campus organizations and community partners with the missions of gender equity and professional development
Empowerment: Cultivating femme-identifying leaders who embrace their identities and harness their collective experience to mobilize for change
Advising & Networking: Connecting students to successful female professionals in their fields of interest and to relevant career opportunities
Intersectionality: Centering inclusion of women of color, queer and trans women, and survivors of sexual violence/sexual harassment
